• abeș - An archaic term from Romanian folk medicine, used regionally in the past to denote intestinal worms, roundworms (Ascaris lumbricoides), or, broadly, internal parasites in humans and animals. In old village beliefs, the presence of an abeș was associated with symptoms such as nocturnal abdominal spasms, teeth grinding in children, loss of appetite, or extreme weakness, and was countered with aggressive herbal remedies made from bitter plants.
• Abesalom - A masculine proper name of Hebrew origin (Avshalom, meaning 'father of peace'), borne by the third son of King David, famous for his exceptional physical beauty, his extremely long hair, and his tragic death (caught by his hair in the branches of an oak tree during a rebellion against his father). In early psychoanalytic semiology and metaphorical psychopathology, the name has been occasionally used to describe unresolved parental conflicts, destructive narcissistic pride, or the complex of violent rebellion against paternal authority.
