- abea - An old and regional graphic form for the modern adverb 'abia' (scarcely / barely), historically used in legal-medical texts and clinical charts within early Romanian asylums to express a temporal limit, extreme effort, or functional insufficiency. In psycholinguistic analyses of texts written by patients with senile cognitive decline or dysarthric speech disorders, the preservation of such archaic forms is studied as a marker of lexical regression or the automatic retention of the native dialect.
