• Clothier's wife (historical) — An extremely rare, archaic, and regional feminine form derived from the historical guild environment, denoting either the wife of an abagiu (a coarse-wool clothier) or a woman who independently practiced domestic processing and local trading of aba fabric in rural markets.
• Rustic wooden pestle — An extremely rare, archaic, and regional term attested in old northern Transylvanian glossaries, historically denoting a rudimentary wooden tool (a heavy pestle or crusher) used in peasant households or by local folk healers to pound and pulverize tree bark, fibrous roots, or animal fats intended for traditional ointments and empirical remedies.
• Abalienated — An archaic medical and legal term used to describe a person who has lost their mental faculties, sanity, or connection with reality; mentally alienated. In the context of historical forensic evaluations, being abalienated implied a lack of criminal responsibility and required the establishment of legal guardianship.
• Abalienation (archaic variant) — An archaic phonetic variant of the noun abalienation (mental alienation, loss of cognitive faculties). Introduced into the Romanian language during the modernization of scientific terminology under Latin-French influence, it was used in early medical academic circles to indicate a state of mental derangement or dementia.
• Dazed / Stupefied — An old, regional, or archaic medical term previously used in Romanian rural areas to describe a state of bewilderment, severe dizziness, mental confusion, or altered consciousness (stupor). In early psychiatric semiology, the word qualified patients presenting an absent behavior, fixed stare, and pronounced psychomotor slowing, symptoms typical of post-ictal epileptic states, toxic encephalopathies, or catatonic episodes.
• The Aban (illness entity) — An extremely rare archaic term attested in old Balkan apocryphal writings or healing manuscripts, denoting the symbolic or demonic personification of an acute febrile illness or a severe muscle spasm. In medieval folk medicine, diseases were frequently labeled with strange proper names (such as Abanul) to facilitate medical exorcism rituals and charms aimed at driving away pain.
• Abason (illness entity) — A rare archaic and mythological term found in medieval superstitions and magic-medical manuscripts of Southern Europe, representing the demonic personification of an acute mental illness or furious delirium. In ancient empirical medicine, severe epileptic seizures or psychotic episodes were often attributed to possession by Abason, with healing attempted through charms, exorcisms, and fumigations with sedative plants.
• Abducting structure (archaic) — An old or regional anatomical term previously used to describe a muscular structure, ligament, or shunt canal that causes a deviation, abduction, or direction change of a physiological flow or a body segment. In early translations of medical textbooks and dissection treatises into Romanian, the word was employed as an equivalent for abductor muscles (which move a limb away from the body's midline).
• Pertaining to a slaughterhouse — An archaic term used as an adjective to describe anything pertaining to, connected with, or originating from a slaughterhouse or an animal slaughter area. In old sanitary regulations and 19th-century hygiene manuals, it was used to define the rules, residues, or taxes associated with livestock slaughtering activities.
• Archaic abdication act — An archaic and etymological variant for the term 'abdicare' or 'abdicație', frequently used in 19th and early 20th-century Romanian forensic texts. In the context of examining mentally alienated patients, the word denoted the formal act by which an individual abandoned civil duties or patrimony, with the validity of this act being contested in court based on evidence of mental alienation, mania, or severe cognitive disorders.
• Archaic abduction — An archaic and etymological variant for the term 'abducție', previously used in Romanian medical literature to describe the movement of drawing a body segment or the eyeball away from the median axis. In old treatises on semiology and forensic expertise, this motor dynamic was analyzed to verify the integrity of peripheral nerve pathways or the presence of muscular rigidity specific to catatonic states.
• Barely / Scarcely (archaic spelling) — An old and regional graphic form for the modern adverb 'abia' (scarcely / barely), historically used in legal-medical texts and clinical charts within early Romanian asylums to express a temporal limit, extreme effort, or functional insufficiency. In psycholinguistic analyses of texts written by patients with senile cognitive decline or dysarthric speech disorders, the preservation of such archaic forms is studied as a marker of lexical regression or the automatic retention of the native dialect.
• Obsolete aberration — An archaic and learned variant of the neologism 'aberație' (aberration), used in 19th and early 20th-century legal, philosophical, and medical texts to denote a severe error in judgment, a wandering of reason, or a flagrant deviation from established moral norms. In old Romanian jurisprudence, the term qualified an absurd testimony or interpretation of the law, viewed as a temporary intellectual straying of its author.
• Archaic alphabet letters — An archaic and regional plural form previously used in certain Transylvanian dialects to denote the letters of the alphabet, the primer, or the first elementary notions of a field. In early neurological semiology and historical clinical pedagogy, the term was applied metaphorically to evaluate the retention and recall abilities of patients suffering from mild cognitive impairments or post-traumatic amnesias, testing if they still remembered their 'abețe' (rudimentary knowledge).
• Habilitation (archaic variant) — A learned, obsolete, or rare variant of the noun 'abilitare'. It denotes the act of habilitating and its result, representing the official investment, empowerment, or recognition of a legal right or competence by an administrative or judicial authority.
• Abiolan — An old commercial and industrial term used in the 20th century to denote a type of synthetic textile fiber or insulating material manufactured through chemical processes, characterized by high resistance to environmental factors and used in the production of technical yarns or fabrics.
• Habitation (archaic variant) — A learned, obsolete, or rare variant of the noun 'abitație' or 'habitație'. In old Romanian law and early translations of civil codes, the term denoted the real, legal, and non-transferable right of a person to occupy a dwelling owned by another.
• Abecedar (archaic variant) — An archaic and obsolete regional variant of the noun 'abecedar'. It denotes the elementary textbook historically used for learning how to read and write. The form preserves a hybrid pronunciation influenced by the early integration of the word into local dialects.
• Abjuration (archaic variant) — An archaic and early neologistic variant of 'abjurare'; the solemn act by which a person publicly renounced a belief, doctrine, or oath. In 19th-century legal and theological literature, the term specifically denoted the official document or record drawn up by authorities to certify the recantation of a heresy or a political faction.
• To ablegate — To send a delegate, an ambassador, or an official representative on a special mission of negotiation or representation; to temporarily remove someone from a public office by sending them on an external delegation. In historical administrative law and classical ecclesiastical procedures, the term described the formal appointment of an emissary authorized to act on behalf of a sovereign or a council.
