#Akutagawa Prize

• Akutagawa — A proper noun of Japanese origin famous in universal culture, indissolubly associated with the modernist writer Ryūnosuke Akutagawa (eighteen ninety-two - nineteen twenty-seven), considered the 'father of the Japanese short story'; his masterful work, including the short stories 'Rashōmon' and 'In a Grove', revolutionized narrative structure by introducing multiple perspectives and psychological relativism. In his memory, the Akutagawa Prize was established, the highest and most coveted literary distinction in Japan for debut authors, serving as a structural pillar for promoting contemporary literary talents.
