• Ares — The supreme god of bloody warfare, violence, and brutal physical courage in ancient Greek mythology, son of Zeus and Hera, structurally identified within the Roman pantheon with Mars. In astronomy and astrophysics, the name is utilized as an etymological root in terms describing Martian phenomena, or as a designation for launch vehicles in modern space programs.
