• To splinter — To split off splinters or chips from a wooden, metallic, or mineral mass; to chip, carve, or break a material into small, thin, and sharp pieces, especially during manual or mechanical processing. In its reflexive form, it refers to the structural action of wood or other hard materials cracking or shattering into irregular fragments under the influence of mechanical pressure, dryness, or an external shock.
• Machinability — A technological property of a solid material (metal, wood, plastic) that determines the ease, precision, and efficiency with which it can be machined through cutting or chipping using tool bits. This structural parameter directly influences the wear rate of cutting tools, the surface finish quality, the shape of the resulting chips, and the energy consumption during industrial turning, milling, or drilling processes.
• Machined — Having undergone the process of machining or chipping; a solid material shaped, cut, or finished by the successive removal of thin layers in the form of chips. As a neuter noun, it indicates the technical operation itself performed on machine tools. It describes the structural state of a part whose final dimensions and geometric precisions were obtained via a cutting tool.
