#abatis
- Abatis — A defensive obstacle made of felled trees with sharpened branches directed toward the enemy (abatis). In the history of military medicine and field epidemiology, areas with abatis accumulated organic waste and stagnant water, becoming unsanitary hotspots and breeding grounds for vectors (mosquitoes, rats) responsible for malaria, typhus, or cholera epidemics among besieged troops.
- Adiabatism — A structural property, state, or operating regime of a thermodynamic system characterized by the total absence of heat exchange with the surrounding environment. This theoretical concept forms the basis for modeling high-efficiency heat engines and explaining atmospheric phenomena of rapid energy transformation without external thermal losses.
