• Adventitious — Arising or developing in an unusual, atypical, accidental, or secondary location on a plant's body or within a biological system; in biogeography, it describes a plant or animal species introduced accidentally by human agency outside its native range that became naturalized without being cultivated. In geology, the term qualifies secondary terrain features, such as adventive craters on a main volcano's flanks.
