- Adventurer — A literary archaism or rare nominal variant historically used to denote an adventure seeker, a risky explorer, or a person involved in hazardous actions; additionally, in some old commercial documents, the term referred to a high-risk maritime transport contract. Its meaning was gradually lost, being completely replaced in the modern language by the noun adventurer.
