#aldol addition
- Aldolization — A nucleophilic addition chemical reaction in which two molecules of carbonyl compounds (aldehydes or ketones) possessing alpha-hydrogen atoms combine to form a beta-hydroxyaldehyde or a beta-hydroxyketone (an aldol). This structural process represents the first stage of the aldol condensation and is fundamental in industrial organic synthesis and cellular metabolic pathways.
