• Shot-peened — Having undergone the process of shot-peening or shot-blasting; a metallic object, structural part, or hard surface treated by continuous bombardment with a stream of metallic pellets. In a technical sense, it describes the final state of a strain-hardened material whose surface micro-imperfections have been eliminated and whose internal compressive stresses have been industrially optimized to resist chronic fatigue and cracking.
