#amfitrop
- Amphitropous — Describing plant ovules or embryos: strongly curved in the shape of a horseshoe, such that the embryo sac and nucellus are structurally bent on both edges, causing the hilum to be placed in a median position adjacent to the funiculus. This unique anatomical adaptation optimizes the vascularization of the developing seed.
- Amphotropic — Describing plant ovules: an accepted orthographic variant for 'amfitrop', describing a structure strongly bent in a horseshoe shape; in virology, describing a virus (especially a retrovirus) capable of infecting and structurally replicating within both the cells of its original host species and cells of different species, exhibiting a dual tropism.
