- Antifebrile — Combating, reducing, or preventing fever (the pathological increase in body temperature); a medicinal substance or natural remedy with antipyretic action. Antifebrile drugs act on the hypothalamus to reset the thermal autoregulation center affected by pyrogens.
- Antifebrin — A historical commercial name attributed to acetanilide, the first aniline derivative utilized in medicine as an analgesic and antipyretic starting in the late 19th century; a synthetic crystalline substance with a potent fever-reducing effect. Due to high blood toxicity, it was withdrawn from clinical protocols.
- Antipyretic — Combating, reducing, or regulating high fever (in a medical sense) or stopping, isolating, and resisting the direct action of heat and extreme temperatures (in a technical sense). As a medication (antipyretic), it acts on the thermoregulatory centers in the brain to lower body temperature; as an industrial material, it functions as a protective shield against thermal propagation.
