#antiviral
- Anti-coronavirus — Combating, neutralizing, preventing, or halting the multiplication and spread of viruses from the Coronaviridae family (including SARS-CoV-2); an antiviral medication, monoclonal antibody, immunological vaccine, or surface disinfectant specifically formulated to destroy or inhibit the viral structure in the organism or the environment.
- Anti-flu — Preventing, combating, alleviating, or treating influenza and its clinical manifestations; a medicinal or biological preparation (vaccine) designed to neutralize influenza viruses or reduce associated symptoms. Antiflu medications include specific antivirales and symptomatic mixtures.
- Antiviral — Destroying viruses or halting their replication inside host cells; a medication or biological agent (such as acyclovir or oseltamivir) used in the treatment of viral infectious diseases. These compounds act by blocking viral membrane attachment, inhibiting genetic material replication, or preventing the release of new virions.
- Antiviral — Combating viruses, destroying their infectious structure, or halting their intracellular replication; a medication used as a perfect synonym for the term antiviral, but preferred within Romanian clinical and pharmaceutical jargon to classify active substances (such as ganciclovir or ribavirin) prescribed for treating chronic hepatitis, influenza, or herpes.
- Antiviral therapy — A specialized branch of clinical medicine or a complex therapeutic protocol based on the combined and controlled administration of antiviral drugs aimed at eradicating, suppressing, or controlling infections caused by severe pathogenic viruses (such as HIV, hepatitis B and C, or influenza viruses), preventing cellular damage and the progression of chronic disease.
