#arecastrum

• Arecastrum — An archaic or synonymic taxonomic genus in the family Arecaceae (Palmae), historically used to classify certain tropical and subtropical palm species from South America, notably the queen palm, modernly reclassified under the genus Syagrus (as Syagrus romanzoffiana). In a structural-botanical sense, the term describes arborescent plants featuring a solitary, smooth, ringed trunk, a rich crown of long pinnate leaves, and branched inflorescences producing yellow fleshy drupe-type spherical fruits.
