#aretino

• Aretino — The surname of the famous Italian writer, poet, and satirist Pietro Aretino, a prominent figure of the Renaissance, renowned for his biting wit, erotic writings, and immense political influence over European courts, earned him the moniker 'The Scourge of Princes'. In a structural-eponymic sense, the term also refers to an incisive, dogma-free satirical style, or references the medieval composer Guido of Arezzo (Guido Aretinus), the inventor of the modern musical staff notation system.
