#arterial stiffness
- Arteriograph — A high-precision medical device used in radiology and cardiology to graphically record arterial pulsations or to visualize and photograph the lumen of arteries using X-rays, following the injection of a contrast medium. Additionally, in modern medicine, the term can also refer to non-invasive devices that measure arterial stiffness and pulse wave velocity to assess a patient's global cardiovascular risk.
- Arteriosclerosis — A chronic, degenerative vascular condition characterized by the thickening, stiffening, and loss of elasticity of arterial walls, a process often correlated with aging or mineral deposition within the tunica media of the vessels. This umbrella term encompasses atherosclerosis (lipid plaque formation in the endothelium) and Mönckeberg's arteriosclerosis (medial calcification), leading to reduced vascular compliance, elevated systolic pressure, and impaired blood flow to vital organs.
