• Autarkic — Based on autarky, relating to a closed economic or political system within which a community, region, or state ensures its total independence by exclusively consuming goods produced inside its own borders, refusing or minimizing external trade and imports. In an ancient philosophical sense, it describes a state of spiritual self-sufficiency and full moral independence of the individual in relation to external factors.
• Autarky — A state or economic policy of a state or community aiming for absolute self-sufficiency and total independence from the outside, by domestically producing all resources necessary for subsistence and development; the voluntary absence of international trade relations. In ancient Greek philosophy (Cynics, Stoics), the concept represents the virtue of being master of one's own life, freed from material desires dependent on others.
