- Aerobe — As a noun, it designates any organism (especially a microorganism, such as a bacterium or fungus) that requires free molecular oxygen to live and develop. As an adjective, it represents a less frequent linguistic variant of the term 'aerob', describing phenomena, environments, or beings adapted to the presence of air.
- Allostery — A biochemical phenomenon or structural property of certain proteins (specifically enzymes and receptors) whereby the binding of an effector molecule (ligand) at a specific site (allosteric site) indices a spatial conformational change in another area of the molecule, directly altering its affinity and biological activity at the active site.
- Combustion — The act of burning and its result; an exothermic chemical reaction involving the rapid oxidation of a combustible substance in the presence of an oxidizer, structurally accompanied by the release of heat, smoke, and light emission in the form of a flame. In physiology and biochemistry, it denotes the metabolic process of cellular oxidation of nutrients to produce vital energy.
