- Agathope — A proper name of Greek origin borne by Saint Agathopus, a martyr deacon from Thessalonica who suffered during the persecutions of Emperor Diocletian, being drowned in the sea with a stone tied around his neck alongside Saint Theodulus. He is venerated as a saint in both Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic traditions, serving as a historical symbol of early spiritual resistance.
