- Andamento — A structural movement, internal rhythm, or course of a musical composition or a visual artwork. In the art of mosaic, the term defines the linear direction and visual flow created by the geometric alignment of the tiles (tesserae), guiding the eye and providing dynamism and volume to the entire composition. In music, it can designate an extended secondary theme or a methodically developed fugal section.
