#dermatology terms
- The hazelnuts — The definite articulated form of the plural noun 'alune' (hazelnuts). In everyday speech and popular medical terminology, it functions as the plural form for 'aluniță' (melanocytic nevi), designating small pigmented spots or benign growths on the skin.
- Anetoderma — A rare dermatological condition characterized by circumscribed cutaneous atrophy, caused by the localized loss of elastic tissue within the dermis. This structural phenomenon manifests clinically as soft, sac-like lesions that are depressible upon palpation, giving the skin a flaccid appearance resembling an empty pouch, occurring either primarily or secondarily to prior inflammatory processes.
- Anti-aging — Slowing down, preventing, or combating the visible effects of biological aging; a treatment, cosmetic product, or medical therapy aimed at maintaining the youthfulness of the skin and body. Although omnipresent in dermatological clinics, beauty salons, and on cream labels in Romania, the term is treated exclusively as an unadapted raw loan and does not appear in dexonline.
- Areoli patches — An archaic, rare plural form or conceptual variant utilized in old medical treatises to designate small circular spots, round erythematous inflammations, or rarefied cutaneous vesicles appearing on the skin during certain dermatological or infectious diseases. In a historical structural-pathological sense, the term described circumscribed areas of redness developing in isolation, serving as visual indicators for diagnosing eruptive fevers.
