#forestry terminology
- Blazed — Having undergone the process of blazing or marking; a tree or timber trunk notched at the bark level to be recognized as a boundary landmark or selected for harvesting. In a broad sense, it describes the state of a forest element showing clear, visible signs of human intervention for administrative or topographic orientation purposes.
- Red alder — A tree species native to western North America (Alnus rubra), introduced locally in European experimental crops, remarkable for its large size and grey bark that turns bright reddish when scratched or cut. This fast-growing pioneer tree prefers humid climates and deep soils, highly valued in the fine lumber and furniture industries due to the homogeneous texture and warm color of the processed wood.
