- Brass works — A workshop specialized in the melting, casting, shaping, and crafting of brass, or a retail store intended for the exclusive sale of utilitarian, ornamental objects and metallic accessories made of this copper-zinc alloy. In a collective sense, the term denotes all brass products or vessels within a household, a commercial inventory, or an ethnographic museum collection.
- Forehearth — A reception basin or external refractory compartment situated in front of the taphole of a cupola or blast furnace, serving for the temporary collection, homogenization, and temperature maintenance of molten iron or liquid metal before casting. This structural element optimizes the metal smelting process by allowing lighter residual slag to separate at the surface.
- Ore washer — A rare regional designation used historically within mining or crafting communities to denote a worker occupied with washing ores, extracting precious metals from alluvium, or an apprentice at smelting furnaces; a specialized miner. The term survived in isolated parts of Transylvania.
