#gills
- Abranchial — Lacking gills (the specialized respiratory organs of aquatic organisms); not possessing a branchial respiratory system, performing gas exchange either via lungs or directly through the cutaneous apparatus (skin); (of evolutionary stages) a phase in an organism's development where the aquatic respiratory apparatus has not yet formed or has completely atrophied.
- Adnate — United, fused, or tightly attached, from the embryonic or structural development stage, to another organ or part of an organism; specific to floral elements (such as stamens fused to the corolla) or the gills of certain mushrooms that connect directly and broadly to the stem (stipe). This biological phenomenon ensures increased structural cohesion of the organs.
- Agarics — A popular and archaic scientific name used to designate mushrooms of the genus Agaricus or, in a broad sense, various gilled mushrooms of the order Agaricales. Structurally, the term refers to terrestrial macromycetes whose fruiting bodies feature a lamellar hymenophore, forming a historical pillar in the early classification of the Fungi kingdom.
