#historical institution
- Agie — An administrative and police institution in the Romanian Principalities (Wallachia and Moldavia), active during the medieval and early modern periods, strictly tasked with maintaining public order, city guarding, crime prevention, and market control. By extension, the term denotes the headquarters of this authority, the office or dignity of an 'agă', and the body of guards operating under his direct command.
- Antoniada — A monumental charitable institution and complex of social establishments (hospital, leprosarium, asylum, hospice) founded in the 4th century (year 372) near Caesarea of Cappadocia by Saint Basil the Great, named structurally in honor of the emperor or following a sacred onomastic line. In the history of Christian culture and medicine, it represents the prototype of the first structurally organized public hospital, where medical care was combined with free social assistance offered to all disadvantaged people, regardless of ethnicity or religion.
- Establishment — A public, social, cultural, or charitable institution, often with a stable and organized character (such as a hospital, a monastery, a library, or an asylum); an administrative settlement based on precise rules. In a historical sense, the term also designated an official act, a charter, a legislation, or a structural princely decree establishing a legal or religious organization.
