#honorific title
- Elder woman — An archaic or regional form used in the past as an honorific title or respectful term of address for a grandmother, an elderly woman, an abbess, or a spiritual mother; (in some regions) a short variant for 'grandmother' or 'aunt'.
- Babu — An honorific term used in Indian languages (especially Hindi and Bengali) to express respect towards a man, equivalent to 'sir' or 'father'. During the British colonial rule, the word also acquired a pejorative or bureaucratic nuance, designating an educated native clerk or public official often criticized for overly formal or servile behavior.
