- Land lease — An obsolete regional or archaic form for the term 'arendă' (lease/leasehold); a contract whereby one party (lessor/landowner) yields to another party (lessee/tenant farmer), for a specified duration, the right to exploit agricultural assets, estates, mills, or ponds in exchange for a predetermined periodic payment. This legal and economic mechanism defined the agrarian structure in the Romanian Principalities in past centuries.
