#literary variant
- Alicante — A traditional, literary Romanian orthographic variant for Alicante; a major port city and famous tourist resort in southeastern Spain, located on the Mediterranean coast (Costa Blanca). While modern standards enforce 'Alicante', this form appears inside older literature and travelogues.
- Otherwise — An extended phonetic variant for 'altminteri' or 'altfel'; used for stylistic or emphatic purposes in literary or archaic texts to express a different manner or to introduce a conditional clause meaning 'otherwise'.
- Amăgie — A rare abstract archaic form or poetic variant for 'amăgire' or 'amăgeală', defining a state of illusion, deception, or the totality of falsehoods in a narrative. Historically found in early chanceries or religious sermons to describe the vanity of the physical world.
- Apparition — An obsolete and deeply literary phonetic variant of the noun 'apariție', frequently used in 19th-century romantic and fantastic prose; it defines a strange vision, a spectral presence, a ghost, or the sudden emergence of a supernatural entity or mystic vision.
- Association — An archaic, literary, or old legal form of the word 'asociație'; it designates a voluntary union of people, a society, an organization, or a legally constituted group aimed at achieving a common purpose (cultural, scientific, economic, or charitable). It is often encountered in the historical names of some Romanian cultural institutions from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
- To assimilate — An infinitive form or old neological spelling variant, borrowed from French, for the verb 'a asimila' (to assimilate); the act of absorbing, transforming, and integrating nutrients into biological tissues, or of receiving, understanding, and internalizing knowledge, ideas, or cultural habits into a pre-existing system; in phonetics, it represents the process of modifying a sound under the influence of an adjacent one.
- Demeaned — Having been demeaned, degraded, humiliated, or deprived of dignity, value, and prestige; a person brought into a deplorable state, despised, or marginalized by society. As a past participle of the obsolete verb 'a avili' (derived from the French 'avilir'), it describes the process of moral, material, or social depreciation of an individual, an institution, or an abstract concept.
