#mental conditioning
- Autosuggestion — A psychological process whereby a person consciously or unconsciously influences their own thoughts, affective states, beliefs, or physiological reactions through the systematic repetition of specific ideas, affirmations, or mental images. This profound cognitive mechanism, closely linked to the placebo effect and hypnosis, can be utilized therapeutically to reduce anxiety, manage pain, or optimize behavioral performance.
- Self-suggest — To consciously or subconsciously impose upon oneself a specific conviction, idea, state of mind, or physical sensation by means of autosuggestion; to convince oneself of the truth or imminence of a fact, driving behavioral or emotional reactions to adapt to that self-induced idea.
- Self-suggestion — The act of self-suggesting and its result; the conscious or unconscious process through which an individual imposes a specific conviction, idea, affective state, or somatic reaction upon themselves by repeating mental affirmations or scenarios. This psychological conditioning mechanism plays a major role in behavioral self-regulation, pain management, and creative visualization techniques, yielding constructive or destructive effects depending on the nature of the thoughts processed.
