#mother fern
- Asplenium bulbiferum — A species of perennial fern in the Aspleniaceae family, native to New Zealand and Australia, popularly known as the mother fern or hen and chickens fern. It stands out for its unique ability to develop small vegetative bulbils (plantlets) directly on the upper surface of its finely dissected, fresh green fronds; these bulbils grow, form small leaves and roots, and when heavy enough fall to the ground, giving rise to new independent plants.
