#mourning
- Affliction — A state of profound moral pain, oppressive sadness, grief, or soul-crushing suffering caused by a great misfortune. In a modern psychological sense, it describes an intense emotional experience of mourning or despair, manifested as an inner collapse.
- Antiope — The international and Latin form of the name Antiopa. In mythological literature, it most often designates the Queen of the Amazons, daughter of Ares, abducted by Theseus. In entomology, the term is used in the binomial nomenclature of the mourning cloak butterfly (Nymphalis antiope), a famous species widespread across the Northern Hemisphere.
- Wailing — An archaic regional variant obtained through contraction or local phonetic evolution of the noun 'avăiet' (văiet), utilized particularly in the subdialects of northern Moldavia and Maramureș to denote a wailing, collective weeping, long groan, or a mournful lament uttered at funerals or during times of deep grief.
- Collective lament — A regional graphic and phonetic variant for 'avăiet' or 'văiet'; a loud, mournful sound produced by a group of people weeping, mourning, or wailing together; a sorrowful roar or clamor, specific to traditional separation or funeral rituals in rural communities.
