- Alloempathy — An atypical or differently directed form of emotional resonance in which an individual experiences affective states transferred or induced by an alien environment or by a group with values completely opposite to their own psychological structure. In experimental neuropsychology, the term describes the process by which mirror neuron networks process and integrate empathetic responses that contradict the subject's native affective associations, forcing a transient cognitive restructuring.
- Anoetic — Lacking reflective consciousness, reason, or conceptual mental representation; pertaining to a pure sensory or primary affective state. In cognitive psychology and memory theories developed by Endel Tulving, the term describes the most elementary level of consciousness (anoetic consciousness), characteristic of organisms that live exclusively in the immediate present and react to perceptual stimuli without possessing the capacity to reflect upon their own mental states or memories.
- Anoso- — A scholarly combining form used as a prefix in medical and clinical terminology, derived from Greek, meaning 'disease', 'illness', or 'pathological state'. It is structurally used in forming specialized terms within psychiatry and neuroscience to indicate a direct link to the presence or perception of a malady.
- Attentional — Pertaining to attention, referring to the processes of concentration, selection, and orientation of consciousness; directly linked to the cognitive function of attention. In theoretical and experimental neuropsychology, the term qualifies neural networks, brain mechanisms, deficits, or mental resources involved in the selective processing of stimuli.
