#non-functioning kidney

• Autonephrectomy — A destructive pathological process through which a kidney completely loses its excretory function and undergoes massive atrophy, transforming into a fibrous, calcified, or cystic mass due to a severe chronic condition (such as renal tuberculosis, prolonged ureteral obstruction, or untreated nephrolithiasis). This phenomenon represents a spontaneous functional elimination of the organ, achieved by the body without surgical excision.
