- Slaughter / Slaughtering operation — The working area in a mine where useful minerals are extracted, or the operation of slaughtering livestock in a slaughterhouse. In occupational medicine, the mining abataj is heavily studied due to the high risk of pneumoconioses (silicosis, anthracosis) induced by industrial dust inhalation, while in public hygiene, zootechnical slaughter involves strict regulations to prevent bacterial meat contamination and control zoonoses.
- Dexterous / Skilful — The quality of an individual to demonstrate motor dexterity, fine coordination, and speed in executing complex physical or cognitive tasks. In neurological semiology and occupational medicine, the term evaluates the integrity of the pyramidal and extrapyramidal tracts; an 'able' or 'skilful' patient presents intact reflexes, preserved praxia (the ability to execute coordinated intentional movements), and the absence of intentional tremor or ataxia.
- Aluminosis — A severe form of pneumoconiosis caused by the prolonged and chronic inhalation of fine aluminum dust or alumina particles within industrial work environments, manifested through progressive pulmonary fibrosis, coughing, and major respiratory difficulties.
- Argyrism — A pathological state and ensemble of systemic clinical manifestations that characterize chronic poisoning with silver or its salts. This nosological complex includes not only the specific cutaneous pigmentation (argyria) but also potential structural or functional alterations in other organs, such as silver deposition within the renal framework (mechanical glomerulonephropathies) or localized ocular irritations, representing a major entity in occupational medicine.
