#phenolic resin
- Asbestos textolite — A laminated composite material for technical insulation, manufactured by hot-pressing multiple layers of asbestos fiber fabric impregnated with thermosetting (phenolic or epoxy) resins. This industrial product is characterized by outstanding structural resistance to high temperatures, mechanical friction, and electrical shocks, having been used in the past for manufacturing friction gaskets, pump blades, or electrotechnical insulations, though its modern use is severely restricted or banned due to asbestos toxicity.
- Bakelite — A synthetic resin derived from the condensation of formaldehyde with phenol in the presence of an acid or alkaline catalyst, famously recognized as the world's first fully synthetic plastic material. This thermosetting polymer possesses excellent electrical insulation properties and high heat resistance, being extensively utilized in manufacturing appliance casings, insulators, industrial parts, and vintage design objects.
