#plane joint

• Arthrodia — A type of synovial joint characterized by flat or nearly flat bony surfaces, permitting exclusively limited gliding movements of the skeletal segments, without rotation or major axial flexion. This anatomical connection, found for instance between carpal or tarsal bones, provides remarkable structural resistance and subtle flexibility, absorbing mechanical shocks during locomotion.
