#plant sterility
- Fruitless — Lacking fruit, unfruitful, or exhibiting a biological inability to produce fruit. In applied botany, the term characterizes plants, trees, or crops that, due to genetic anomalies, unfavorable climatic conditions, or pathogen attacks, fail to complete their reproductive cycle through the formation and maturation of fruits.
- Apogyny — Congenital, accidental, or evolutionary loss of female reproductive capacity in plants, manifested by the atrophy, abortion, or total absence of the gynoecium or carpel organs; structural female sterility. The phenomenon is studied in phytogenetics to understand the internal hormonal modifications hindering pistil development.
