#rudder guard

• Rudder guard — A technical maritime term denoting a massive beam, a structural part, or a metallic extension mounted at the stern of a ship (especially wooden or old-style vessels), designed to protect the rudder from direct impact with ice, floating debris, or during astern mooring maneuvers. This structural component provides increased resistance to the vessel's steering assembly.
