- Abaris — A legendary figure in Greek mythology, known as Abaris the Hyperborean, a priest of Apollo, healer, and shaman attested by Pindar and Herodotus. In the history of medicine and anthropology, he is studied as a representative of archaic pre-scientific medical practices (iatromantis), curing epidemics through incantations, exorcisms, and spiritual purification rituals.
- Ayahuasca — A psychoactive ritual brew, plant infusion, or decoction originating from the indigenous cultures of the Amazon basin, structurally prepared by boiling the Banisteriopsis caapi vine together with Psychotria viridis leaves. This entheogenic preparation contains beta-carboline alkaloids acting as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), enabling the dimethyltryptamine (DMT) from the leaves to be actively absorbed by the body to induce altered states of consciousness, profound visions, and an intense organic purge utilized in shamanism.
