#sports terminology
- Side-swipe — The phase or result of the action of hooking; a minor collision, side-swipe, tangential impact, or snagging between two moving vehicles (cars, boats, bicycles). In sports terminology (boxing, fencing), the term defines close contact, clinching, or the legal or illegal locking of the opponent's arms or weapon to stop an attack or delay the fight.
- Assist — A decisive pass or delivery of the ball to a teammate, performed in an optimal structural manner that allows them to immediately score a point, goal, or basket; goal assist. The term is a neologism borrowed from international sports terminology and is heavily used in statistics to evaluate a player's teamwork and tactical vision.
- Striker — A player in the offensive line of a team, especially in football, handball, or hockey, whose main tactical task is to penetrate the opponent's defense and score goals or points. As an adjective, it describes an action, tactic, or person oriented toward the offensive, showing a dynamic and aggressive behavior to achieve success.
- Out — A technical term used in sports games (such as football, tennis, basketball, handball) indicating the position of a ball that is outside the official playing area bounded by lines; it also denotes the phase or situation where the ball leaves the court, causing a temporary stoppage of the match and its restart by the opposing team.
- Back — A technical term borrowed from English, used in sports jargon to designate a player who acts as a defender or a member of the backline within a team (especially in rugby, American football, or old-style traditional football). This player holds an essential defensive and structural role, responsible for blocking opposing attacks, intercepting balls, and initiating counterattacks from their own half.
