#synovial fluid
- Arthrocentesis — An invasive medical procedure consisting of puncturing a joint cavity using a sterile needle, performed for diagnostic purposes (to extract and analyze synovial fluid) or therapeutic purposes (to evacuate a fluid effusion or inject medications). It is a fundamental technique in rheumatology and orthopedics for the rapid evaluation of septic or microcrystalline arthritis.
- Arthrosynovitis — An acute or chronic inflammatory process that simultaneously affects a joint and the synovial membrane lining its interior. This condition manifests through local swelling, increased pain during mobilization, elevated skin temperature, and excessive accumulation of serous or serofibrinous fluid within the joint cavity, being triggered by repetitive trauma, intense mechanical stress, or systemic rheumatic diseases.
