• Gathering — The act of gathering or tightening and its result; a regional or archaic process of collecting, concentrating, or grouping dispersed elements, or the physical phenomenon of compressing and tensioning a material body. In medieval administrative manuscripts, the term referred directly to the process of centralizing resources or the legal compulsion exerted on debtors.
