- Allport — A surname of English origin, world-famous in social sciences notably through Gordon Allport (1897–1967), one of the founding fathers of personality psychology. He established the foundations of the trait theory of personality and intensively studied the nature of prejudice and rumors. Additionally, his brother, Floyd Henry Allport, is considered an important pioneer in experimental social psychology.
