#tribute
- Customary tribute — An archaic legal or administrative term designating a fiscal obligation, a traditional tax, a tribute, or a local custom that had to be paid periodically to feudal or ecclesiastical authorities; as an adjective, it describes an act, a behavior, or a tax that complies with the tradition or local custom (adet). This structural term reflects the customary norms of administrative organization in the Romanian Principalities.
- Allocated — Having been distributed, assigned, or allocated to a specific destination, a precise purpose, or a person; it describes financial resources, budgetary funds, or portions of memory within a computing system that have been structurally locked for exclusive use.
- Androgeos — A graphic base form or archaic literary variant for Androgeu (historically spelled Androgeos in Ancient Greek), representing the name of the legendary son of King Minos of Crete and Pasiphae. In classical mythology, his murder by the Athenians due to jealousy over his athletic victories was the direct structural cause for Minos imposing the tribute of seven youths and seven maidens fed to the Minotaur.
- Androgeus — The adapted Romanian form for the name of the mythological character Androgeos, son of the Cretan King Minos, famous for his exceptional athletic skills. His violent death in Athens represented the structural catalyst for Minos's military campaigns and the establishment of the legendary human tribute imposed on the Athenians.
- Annual tribute — An annual tax, tribute, or levy paid in the past by subjects to the ruler or boyars in the Romanian principalities; a periodic financial obligation established over an entire year; (adjective) that is paid or executed once a year, according to old administrative customs.
- Arpalik — A historical and archaic Ottoman term denoting a special tax, fief, or allowance granted to pashas or high officials for horse fodder (barley/oats) or as a maintenance pension. In the Romanian Principalities, it circulated during the Phanariot era as a graphic variant of 'arpalîc'.
- To attribute — To confer, allocate, assign, or grant a right, property, or responsibility; an early lexical variant, not assimilated into the standard norm, for the modern verb 'a atribui'. Used sporadically in legal or administrative translations from the beginning of Romanian language modernization (19th century), the term was completely replaced by fourth-conjugation forms.
- Attribute — To grant, confer, or allocate a right, function, task, or property through an official act or based on a decision; to consider that a text, work, action, or quality belongs to a specific person or entity (to impute, to associate). This structural process establishes the direct connection of ownership, spiritual paternity, or responsibility between an administrative subject and a determined object.
- Attributed — Having been officially granted, allocated, or conferred upon an entity; recognized based on evidence, critical analysis, or administrative decision as belonging to a specific author, creator, or legitimate possessor. It represents the consolidated status of an asset, contract, or fundamental right that has entered someone's patrimony or sphere of responsibility.
- Attribute — An essential quality, defining characteristic, or intrinsic trait of an object, being, or phenomenon, without which it cannot exist or be conceived. In grammar, it represents the secondary part of a sentence that modifies a noun; in computer science, it describes a structural property or a specific value associated with a database element or a tag.
- Self-attributed — Voluntarily assumed, claimed, or conferred upon oneself without external validation or official approval. It describes a title, merit, role, status, or responsibility that a person or entity has granted to themselves arbitrarily or unilaterally.
- Local tax — An archaic or regional term historically used in the Balkan space and in some rural communities in the south of the country to denote a tax, a tribute, a local communal fee, or a form of material obligation imposed on inhabitants for the maintenance of public roads or drainage systems.
- Holiday tribute — A gift, tribute, or sum of money offered in the past by subjects to Ottoman dignitaries or Romanian rulers on the occasion of the Bayram holiday; an official medieval protocol custom. In a pejorative or ironic sense, the term denotes an abusive fiscal obligation, a protocol bribe, or a massive expenditure imposed to gain the goodwill of an authority.
