#verbal charm
- Avesuha — An extremely rare phonetic or regional variant for 'avestiță' or 'avesuha', denoting in the magical beliefs and charms of certain Banat or Transylvanian villages the unclean spirit of the night or the female demon that brings harm to households; it represents the secret name invoked or banished during archaic popular medicine practices. Its semantics are strictly confined to ritual formulas passed down orally for protecting children and cattle against the evil eye or hags.
- Avezuha — The base, unarticulated form of the mythological term 'avesuha', representing in the traditional beliefs of western Romania the female demonic entity responsible for night terrors, the evil eye in infants, and the straying of travelers through thickets; primarily used as a semantic core in archaic verbal charms where speaking the name was meant to capture and neutralize the spirit's malevolent force. It represents a linguistic relic closely tied to protective practices in rural empirical medicine.
