#voice loss

• Tone-deaf — A person lacking musical ear, unable to correctly perceive sound pitch or reproduce a melody; medically, it refers to an individual affected by aphonia (loss of voice). Informally, it describes someone completely incompetent or ignorant in a specific field.
• Aphonia — Total or partial loss of voice, caused by diseases of the larynx, vocal cords, recurrent nerves, or psychological factors (such as a powerful emotional shock). In medical practice, the affected patient retains the ability to articulate words, but communication occurs exclusively through whispering.
• Apsithyria — A very rare medical and psychiatric term historically used in old clinical treatises as a variant or transcription error for 'apsithyria'; a severe form of hysterical aphasia or conversion disorder where the patient completely loses the ability to whisper or emit any vocal sound, although the structural speech apparatus is intact.
