#woodwind reed
- Reed — A thin, elastic tongue made of reed, plastic, or metal, used to produce sound through vibration under air pressure in certain wind instruments (such as the clarinet, saxophone, or oboe). It represents the essential acoustic element for controlling timbre, dynamics, and expressive flexibility in generating sound waves specific to woodwinds.
- Arundo donax — The scientific name for the giant reed (or Spanish cane), an invasive perennial grass species of the genus Arundo, native to Asia but naturalized in the Mediterranean basin and other warm regions. The plant reaches heights of up to 6-10 meters, with very thick stems used industrially to manufacture reeds for woodwind musical instruments (clarinet, saxophone, bassoon), in eco-construction, and as a major source of renewable energy.
