#zoology terminology
- Apivorous — Feeding predominantly on bees or wasps (e.g., the European bee-eater or certain predatory insect species); characterized by a diet based on consuming insects of the Apidae family.
- Aplacental — Lacking a placenta; a mammal or organism that does not develop a placenta during the embryo's gestation period, with reproduction occurring via eggs or through fetal development inside an external marsupial pouch (e.g., monotremes and marsupials).
- Arcella — A genus of testate amoebae (protozoa) characterized by a protective organic shell or test, often dome, disc, or hat-shaped, made of chitinous material with a single central pseudopod opening. In a structural sense, arcella represents a microscopic unicellular organism that inhabits freshwater habitats, peat bogs, and damp moss, serving as an excellent bioindicator for environmental quality and ecosystem pollution levels.
