Adamantoblast
Definition
A differentiated epithelial cell, cylindrical in shape, exclusively responsible for secreting the organic matrix and the subsequent mineralization of tooth enamel during the amelogenesis process. These active cells are located in the inner layer of the enamel organ and disappear completely after tooth eruption is finalized, making the natural regeneration of enamel impossible during a lifespan.
